Die striking leaves indentations where the color fills to ensure that metal lines remain raised to separate colors and add detail. Hard enamel goes on as a powdered polymer and is fired in a kiln to set the enamel. Soft enamel is similar to car paint, applies as liquid, and then baked to dry. Hard enamel is smoother to the touch, but soft enamel has deeper traces in detail, providing a tactile feel to your custom lapel pin.
